The Dublin Garden Festival is back for a second year and we're in for a real treat as it's bigger and better than ever.
A dazzling range of flower installations is on display within Christ Church Cathedral, overseen by award-winning floral artist Christopher White. It's a wonderful setting, with arrangements back-lit by sunlight pouring through the stained glass windows: and with this year's theme of fairy tales the atmosphere is positively magical.
Among a stellar line-up of gardening guests to inspire you with tales and tips are legendary garden maker Helen Dillon, gardening guru Gerry Daly, and maverick designer Diarmuid Gavin (also hosting a champagne breakfast – though book your tickets soon as they're selling out fast).
Enjoy workshops and demonstrations, and then wander outside into the Cathedral grounds where there's a summer market with food, craft and garden stalls, as well as horticultural displays, urban gardening and craft demonstrations.
And when you return home brimming with ideas and itching to have a go yourself, you'll find all you need at our garden centre here in Athlone from a fabulous array of cut flowers to flower arranging accessories.
