Gather your daffs for Ireland's Daffodil Day

Gather your daffs for Ireland's Daffodil Day, the biggest and longest-running fundraising day for the Irish Cancer Society.

You can buy yourself a daffodil or pin to wear with pride on the big day, Friday 27 March; or visit the Garden of Hope, a pop-up garden of art installations and card daffodils 'planted' each year to celebrate the memory of those lost to cancer and to show solidarity with those currently living with the disease. This year's Garden will be planted in Dublin's Iveagh Gardens.

There are plenty of daffodil gardens open throughout Ireland where you can go to see these cheery spring flowers en masse. The daffodil garden at Barnett Demesne, Co. Antrim, are a centre for daffodil breeding with thousands planted out beneath the park's trees; and at Wells House in Co. Wexford they're marking Daffodil Day with demonstrations, entertainment, cakes and coffee!

Or of course you can plant your own personal daffodil garden right now, with potfuls of in-bloom daffs on sale in our garden centre here in Athlone. Just pop them into well-prepared ground as they are, spacing the potfuls 10-15cm apart at the same depth as they were in the container. It's a lovely way to commemorate this very special cause for years to come.
